As the enthralling action of the IPL 2023 is continuing to entertain the cricketing fans all around the world, betting has moved parallelly. For the unversed, the Goa Police arrested as many as 14 people in Porvorim, North Goa for betting during an IPL game on Thursday, April 27.

Online Betting on a roll during the IPL
This is not the first case that has been busted related to cricket betting during the cash-rich league. In fact, online betting has not been uncommon ever since its inception. Many illegal and offshore betting sites operate freely in India despite strict regulations imposed by the government authorities.
With restrictions being imposed over television and digital advertisements, online betting platforms collaborate with social media influencers, YouTubers, and celebrities to promote themselves through internet posts, thereby finding a loophole to advertise themselves.
For the uninitiated, illegal betting platform even addresses itself as the only legal and licensed betting operator in India, which falsely represents them as a legit platform, and users either end up getting addicted, or losing their hard-earned monies.
