Mahadev Book: 23 arrested for conducting illegal betting operations across three states

In another successful action against Mahadev Book, an illegal online betting platform, Raipur Police have arrested another 23 individuals operating from Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the report, the police uncovered 150 accounts across 12 banks that contained around Rs 45 lakh. The bank accounts have been frozen, and the police have seized the money. The police are also questioning ten people who were registered as the owner of some accounts.
The police are also interrogating the arrested individuals in Raipur, who revealed that almost 75% of the individuals’ funds are transferred to Dubai. According to the previous reports, the mastermind of the whole operation, Saurabh Chardraker and his partner Ravi Uppal are in Dubai.
A lookout notice has also been issued previously under the name of Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, by the police. The whole betting network is believed to be spread across the whole country with a base of operations in Chhattisgarh.
The police estimate the whole operation to be around 1,000 crore and are operated through different groups. The operator of these groups are usually trained in Dubai and sent to India. The police have made over 500 arrests since the beginning of the whole operation.
Two more arrested for operating bank accounts for Mahadev book
Elsewhere in Bilaspur’s Janjgir Champa, the police arrested two individuals, identified as Narendra Kumar Mathur and Sunil Patel, for illegal transactions. According to reports, Kumar and Patel were both working for Mahadev Book.
The police acted on a complaint from Abhishek Khandekar, who told that Kumar and Patel duped him into opening bank accounts in exchange for money. After he found out about the illegal transactions, they both threatened Khandekar if he closes the account.
Further investigation revealed that transactions worth 23 lakh had been done using the account. The police have registered an FIR against both of the arrested individuals under sections 420, 506 (B), and 34 of the IPC.
