Gopal Kanda - Big Daddy Casino owner

Haryana MLA & Big Daddy Casino Owner Gopal Kanda has been cleared by the Delhi Court from involvement in 2012 Geetika Sharma suicide case.

Kanda, who is currently supporting BJP-led Khattar government in Haryana, served as a minister in ex-CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s government.

As per Zee News, the accused had been charged u/s 306, 506, 201, 120B, and 466. Earlier, charges of rape (u/s 376) and unnatural physical intercourse (u/s 377) were also charged against Kanda, however, the Delhi High Court dismissed the charges.

The suicide case came a year after Kanda purchasing an offshore casino named Casino Rio. Geetika, who worked as an air hostess, committed suicide at her Ashok Vihar residence in Northwest Delhi, leaving behind a note that she was harassed at work.

Gopal Kanda stepped into the casino industry back in 2011 when he purchased Casino Rio from the Leela Group of Hotels. However, the casino quickly ran into licensing issues. After that, his next vessel, Big Daddy Casino, became the second-ever casino to operate with a licence in Mandovi River.

Controversies around Kanda not new

Kanda has previously faced several criminal charges. His casino was also recently accused of having links with casino organizer Chikoti Praveen, who himself is under ED investigation for alleged money laundering.

According to previous reports, Praveen allegedly managed an entire casino floor inside Big Daddy Casino. Big Daddy casino owner denied any links with Chikoti Praveen.

“We would like to clarify that Mr Chikoti Praveen Kumar is not associated with Big Daddy Casino in any capacity,” said an official statement from a representative of Gopal Kanda’s Big Daddy Casino.

Earlier in February 2022, renowned cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had also alleged Kanda’s Big Daddy Casino for using his morphed image without permission. Sachin further stressed that he was pained to see his images being used to mislead people.
