Goa: 12 arrested in Mahadev Book app illegal betting bust

The recent raid led by the Porvorim Police in Goa against bookies wanted in the Mahadev book illegal betting app case. According to oheraldo, the mastermind of the group was wanted by Raipur police.
The police received information regarding the individual taking bets on sports activities like the current T20 cricket match between New Zealand and UAE. Working on the information, the police raided the location and arrested 12 individuals.
Among the arrested bookies, Raipur’s most wanted Naveen Batra was also present along with Sanjay Subba, Karan Rajesh Patil, Varinder Singh, Amit More, Ankit Kumar, Suraj Nagdev, Kishan Poptani, Tilesh Kumar Kurrey, Shrey Sharma, Ashish Mantry and Ritesh Jaiswal.
All of these individuals were caught during their operation. The police also seized ten mobile phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers along with other devices, the price for which is estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh.
The Goa police have registered an FIR against the bookies under sections 3 and 4 of The Goa Daman & Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976. A police team from Raipur is also on-route to Goa in order to take Naveen Batra under arrest.
It is being told that a capture warrant for Batra was issued by the Raipur police a very long time ago, and they have finally captured the bookie. These individuals used to provide betting IDs to unsuspecting users claiming to be legitimate bookmakers.
The money deposited by individuals is then channelled through fake bank accounts and sent outside of India. Police across Chhattisgarh have taken a strict stance against these activities and arrested over 200 individuals linked to Mahadev book.
However, the mastermind of the whole operation, Saurabh Chnadrakar, is operating from Dubai, against whom the police have issued a lookout notice. Several of the most wanted bookies are trained in Dubai and sent to India to continue taking bets and siphon money out of the country.
