On Sunday, September 3 the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Jubesta Hospital and its operator’s residence in Devendra Nagar, Raipur, in connection with the Mahadev Book illegal betting app scam.

During the raid, several documents containing transactions, cash, and jewelry were recovered. The son and son-in-law of the hospital operator Dr. Dalla are currently being interrogated. It has come to light that both of them have connections with hawala operators Anil and Sunil Dammani who were arrested earlier.

The ED received this information on the matter after interrogating recently arrested ASI Chandrabhushan Verma, who was under ED’s custody along with Satish Chandrakar (a relative of the Mahadev Book mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar), and Anil Dammani and Sunil Dammani who are also petrol pump owners and bullion traders, as reported by Patrika.

On one hand, the ED is now interrogating Dr Dalla’s family member and relative while on the other they are in the process of issuing a Red Corner Notice against the mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar and his partner Ravi Uppal. The agency is working with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is the officially designated National Central Bureau by Interpol in India, and is tasked with maintaining and updating the Red Corner Notices.

The Red Corner Notice would help in nabbing Chandrakar and Uppal by international law enforcement agencies working with the Interpol, and subsequently allowing for their extradition to India. It has been reported that Chandrakar and Uppal operate the Mahadev Book illegal betting app from Dubai and are most likely hiding there itself.

The recent developments have also led to the opposition attacking the ruling party in Chhattisgarh after government and police officials were found to be helping the operations of the illegal betting network.
