HP is now intensifying its focus on gaming, a segment that currently contributes 22% to 25% of its overall consumer business. With the recent launch of its new range of AI-enabled gaming laptops, HP is positioned to further expand its presence in this fast growing market.

As reported by The Economic Times, the industry reports indicate a surge in PC sales within the gaming segment, experiencing a growth rate of over 200% over the past two years. This growth stands out against the backdrop of a largely stagnant or declining overall PC market. Between 2021 and 2023, while the overall PC market witnessed a 6% decline, gaming category sales nearly doubled, from 428,000 units to 888,880 units, now constituting nearly 10% of the total PC market.

HP remains confident in the market’s willingness to invest in high-performance PCs. Vineet Gehani, head of consumer business at HP, emphasized the direct correlation between device performance and earnings for gamers and content creators. He highlighted the advantages of AI PCs, including faster speeds, seamless frame transitions, and noise cancellation, as key factors driving their appeal among enthusiasts.

HP’s latest move comes with the unveiling of its AI-enabled portfolio of gaming laptops, powered by Intel’s advanced three-part core processor, comprising CPU, GPU, and NPU (Neural Processing Unit). This technology, often acclaimed as the brain of new-age AI devices, promises optimized graphics usage in real-time, leading to enhanced battery life, improved thermal management, and overall performance. Dell Technologies, HP’s competitor, has also entered this arena with its own line of AI laptops, similarly powered by Intel’s processor.

HP leads the gaming industry, with a market share of 32%, followed by ASUS at 24% and Dell at 19%, according to industry data. Vineet Gehani further revealed HP’s commitment to supporting gamers through various affordability programs, recognizing gaming devices as important tools for monetization in the esports and content creation spheres.

Moreover, HP’s marketing strategy includes investments in both online and offline gaming activities to bolster sales. Gehani emphasized the company’s engagement with the gaming community, citing an increase in brand recall among gamers.
