Google has introduced a suite of new AI and gaming features for its Chromebook Plus line, aiming at boosting productivity and creativity for users. These affordable laptops, priced below Rs. 40,000, will now offer advanced tools and integrations in the Chromebook market.

As reported by India Today, one of the features is “Help me write,” a tool leveraging Google AI to assist users in writing tasks across various platforms, including websites, PDFs, and web apps. This feature allows users to generate text from prompts, rewrite existing text in different tones or formats, and receive suggestions to improve their writing.

Chromebook Plus users will also enjoy new generative AI capabilities for customizing their digital environment. This includes AI-generated wallpapers and video call backgrounds, enabling users to create personalized and professional settings for virtual meetings.

Additionally, the Magic Editor in Google Photos, now available on Chromebook Plus, makes photo editing easier. Users can reposition, resize, and enhance objects within their photos, supported by contextual suggestions for improving lighting and backgrounds.

Another addition is Gemini, a brainstorming and planning assistant accessible from the home screen. This tool helps in writing, learning, and planning tasks. To complement these features, Google is offering a complimentary 12-month subscription to the Google One AI Premium plan, which includes Gemini Advanced, 2TB of storage, and seamless integration with Google Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail.

Google has introduced a process for integrating Chromebooks with Android phones. Users can now set up their Chromebooks by scanning a QR code, which transfers Wi-Fi credentials and Google account information directly from their phones, bypassing the need for manual entry.

Google Tasks has also been integrated into the Chromebook Plus home screen, providing users with a way to manage their to-dos. By tapping the date, users can access and update their tasks from various Google Workspace apps and devices.

For gaming enthusiasts, the new Game Dashboard enhances the gaming experience by allowing users to map mobile game controls to their keyboards. This feature is available on the new Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE, which is currently on sale in the U.S.

Future updates also include a “Focus” feature, combining Do Not Disturb mode with task management and YouTube Music playlists to help users with important tasks. Additionally, AI-powered hands-free control with face and gesture tracking is being developed to enhance accessibility, allowing users to navigate and control their Chromebooks without a keyboard.
