Team India will soon introduce a new coaching staff. Head coach Rahul Dravid’s term finished after the T20 World Cup last month. Batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip have also exited their roles.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has already conducted interviews with two candidates for the head coach position. Last month, former India cricketers Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman were interviewed for the role. Media reports suggest Gambhir is the leading contender to succeed Dravid.

While the BCCI plans to invite applications for Team India’s support staff positions, Gautam Gambhir will have the authority to select his team. The news outlet also mentioned that Team India might forego appointing a batting coach, given Gambhir’s expertise. Gambhir is regarded as one of India’s most successful openers across all formats.

On the other hand, KKR clinched the IPL title after a decade-long wait with Gautam Gambhir as their mentor. The BCCI hopes Gambhir can replicate this success with Team India. Meanwhile, India is in Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series with VVS Laxman serving as head coach.
