Zaheer Khan and Lakshmipathy Balaji have been shortlisted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as potential candidates for the role of bowling coach.
The BCCI’s decision means that Gautam Gambhir’s suggestion to bring in Vinay Kumar as the bowling coach for the Indian cricket team has been turned down.
“The names of Zaheer Khan and L Balaji are on the bucket list of the BCCI for bowling coach,” ANI reported.
It’s worth noting that Zaheer Khan has already served as the Team India bowling consultant back in 2007 and has been a longstanding bowling mentor for Mumbai Indians.
Meanwhile, the BCCI is expected to confirm Abhishek Nayar as Gautam Gambhir’s assistant coach, following Gambhir’s recommendation to the board.
Abhishek Nayar and Gautam Gambhir previously worked together at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during IPL 2024, and led the team to the championship.
