Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi has invited Indian batting legend Virat Kohli to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, slated for February next year.

Pakistan has the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025, but there is skepticism over India’s participation in the ICC event in Pakistan. The BCCI is looking for a hybrid model, akin to the structure used in the 2023 Asia Cup.

The Indian cricket team has not travelled to Pakistan since 2008 due to ongoing political tensions between the two nations. On the other hand, the Pakistan cricket team visited India last year during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Shahid Afridi, while extending the invitation to Virat Kohli, went on to say that once Virat Kohli visits Pakistan, he will forget the hospitality of India, given the large fan following Kohli enjoys in Pakistan.

Here’s what Shahid Afridi told News24 Sports:

“If Virat Kohli comes to Pakistan, he’ll forget the hospitality of India. Virat has lots of fans in Pakistan, we’re eager to see Virat play in Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Dubai have been proposed as potential venues for the Indian cricket team in the 2025 Champions Trophy, with all matches of Rohit Sharma & Co. likely to be held at these venues.
