Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and they will host the tournament starting from February next year.

However, Pakistan’s road ahead is fraught with challenges, particularly with arch-rivals India unlikely to visit Pakistan for the ICC event.

The Indian government is unlikely to permit the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns and political tensions between the two nations.

The Pakistan cricket team travelled to India last year during the ODI World Cup 2023. However, the Indian cricket team is unlikely to reciprocate and is considering Sri Lanka or Dubai as neutral venues for their matches in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Curious Case of Afghanistan Cricket

Following Team India, reports suggest that the Afghanistan cricket team is also unlikely to visit Pakistan. However, these reports are currently circulating only on social media, with no official statement yet from the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

On the other hand, Afghanistan cricketers frequently participate in the Pakistan Super League, travel to Pakistan, and even have homes there. Therefore, it seems highly improbable that the Afghanistan team would decline to travel to Pakistan.

However, the coming days promise to be interesting as all eyes remain on the Indian and Afghanistan cricket team, still deliberating on their participation in Pakistan for the upcoming ICC event.
