In the latest turn of events, according to Pakistan media reports, senior players of the Pakistan cricket team, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, are likely to face demotion in their central contracts.

A lot has been happening in Pakistan cricket ever since the national team suffered an early group stage exit in the T20 World Cup 2024, which was hosted by the USA and the Caribbean. They lost to the USA and then to India, leading to their exit from the tournament.

After the Pakistan cricket team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, made a bold statement that he would conduct a “surgery” within the team to find the right combination.

However, Mohsin Naqvi has only sacked two members of the chief selection committee, namely Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq. Nothing has been done to the players who underperformed in the tournament big time.

PCB Denies NOCs to Senior Players

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has denied issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs) to their star players like Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, as they don’t want their players to get injured before their upcoming series.

Notably, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan were set to play in the Global T20 Canada league, but since they failed to get NOCs from the PCB, their participation in the tournament is now uncertain. Furthermore, Naseem Shah, who was signed by Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred tournament, also did not receive an NOC.

According to Pakistan media, the players are not happy with this decision by the Pakistan Cricket Board as they are suffering heavy monetary losses due to this.
