Pakistan has the hosting rights for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the major ICC event is scheduled to be played from February. This marks the first time since the 1996 ODI World Cup that Pakistan will host such a significant ICC event.

While other teams have committed to participating, India’s participation remains uncertain due to political tensions with Pakistan. Both teams now face each other only in ICC events and Asia Cup since 2012.

While the Pakistan cricket team visited India during the ODI World Cup 2023 last year, the Indian team is unlikely to reciprocate due to government restrictions citing security concerns.

There are reports suggesting that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering asking the ICC to schedule all their matches for the 2025 Champions Trophy in either Sri Lanka or Dubai.

As reported by GEO News, the governing body of Pakistan cricket has stated that the national team will not participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India if India declines to play in Pakistan during the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Notably, India and Sri Lanka are set to co-host the next edition of the T20 World Cup. An ICC meeting is scheduled in Sri Lanka from July 19 to July 22, during which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to clarify their stance on participating in matches held in Pakistan.
