In a recent development, Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of Team India, has expressed his desire for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah to participate in the upcoming Sri Lanka series.

This marks Gautam Gambhir‘s first assignment as head coach, following his appointment last week after Rahul Dravid’s tenure finished.

Gambhir believes all three players should participate in this series, considering there will be a long break afterwards during which they can rest.

Notably, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have opted for a break following a busy schedule that included IPL 2024 and the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024, where India emerged victorious.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah is also taking a much-needed break. However, Hardik Pandya, initially expected to play, has withdrawn from the ODI series due to personal reasons.

The anticipated three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka will commence on July 27th, followed by the three-match ODI series starting on August 2nd, with the final match scheduled for August 7th.
