The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the squad for the T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka this Tuesday.
In addition to Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also sit out the ODI series, opting for a much-needed break following a gruelling schedule.
Shubman Gill or Suryakumar Yadav?
Shubman Gill recently captained Team India to a 4-1 series victory in the five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe.
It remains to be seen whether he will lead the team again or if Suryakumar Yadav will be handed the reins.
Gautam Gambhir To Take Over
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir, newly appointed as head coach of Team India, will officially take over the charge from this series.
The T20I series is set to kick off on July 27, culminating with the third and final T20I scheduled for July 30. Meanwhile, the ODI series will commence with the first match on August 2, concluding with the third ODI on August 7.
