The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the ODI and T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series today.

Just before the announcement, Hardik Pandya made himself unavailable for the ODI series due to personal reasons.

It remains to be seen if he will be available for the T20 series or if India will have to go with another captain, likely Suryakumar Yadav or Shubman Gill.

Additionally, star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are unlikely to play in this series as they have requested a break after a hectic schedule, including IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup.

Both Kohli and Sharma are currently spending time with their families. In their absence, younger players will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Apart from this batting duo, Jasprit Bumrah is also likely to miss the series and opt for a much-needed break.

Gautam Gambhir to Take Over as Head Coach:

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir will officially take over as the head coach of the Indian cricket team starting from the Sri Lanka tour. Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended with the T20 World Cup 2024.
