Afghanistan’s pace spearhead, Naveen-ul-Haq, has shed light on his relationship with Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli. In a recent interview with Texas Super Kings, Naveen discussed the on-field argument with Kohli during IPL 2023 and how they eventually reconciled.

Fans may recall the heated exchange between Afghanistan pacer and Kohli during the RCB vs LSG match in IPL 2023 in Lucknow. The incident escalated further when then-LSG coach Gautam Gambhir had an ugly fight with Virat Kohli after the game.

Naveen-ul-Haq admitted to being repeatedly questioned about their face-off. He explained that their intense desire to win for their respective teams fueled the on-field argument during the high-pressure clash.

However, Naveen clarified that they buried the hatchet and even developed a friendship during the India vs Afghanistan World Cup match held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Here’s what Naveen-ul-Haq said:

“That was just the heat of the moment during the match and nothing personal. And I and Virat Kohli both have forgotten & in the ODI World Cup, we finished, hugged and we moved on from that. But social media nowadays keeps these things going on and on.”

Naveen-ul-Haq is not having a great campaign in MLC 2024 as he has managed to take just one wicket in four innings at an economy rate of 9.67.
