Rohit Sharma is expected to be available for the upcoming India vs Sri Lanka ODI series starting from August 2nd, according to reports from Cricbuzz.

Earlier speculations suggested Rohit Sharma, currently on vacation with his family, might skip the ODIs and return for the Test series against Bangladesh.

However, it now appears Rohit will likely feature in the ODIs. With India playing a few ODIs before the 2025 Champions Trophy, the Sri Lanka series offers valuable game time.

If Rohit participates, he will undoubtedly lead the team. However, in case he misses out, KL Rahul is expected to lead the team in his absence. Rahul, will be making his international return for the first time after IPL 2024.

Reports suggest pacer Jasprit Bumrah and batting legend Virat Kohli have been rested for the Sri Lanka tour and are unlikely to be part of the ODIs. Kohli is currently in London with his wife Anushka Sharma and kids.

New head coach Gautam Gambhir recently held a virtual meeting with the BCCI selection committee to discuss the future of Indian cricket and the team composition for the Sri Lanka series.

India is scheduled to play three T20Is and three ODIs in Sri Lanka from July 27 to August 7. The BCCI is expected to announce the squads for both formats soon.
