Shreyas Iyer is expected to get back into the BCCI central contracts. He has been on the sidelines since the Test series against England earlier this year.

Shreyas was excluded from the squad after the second Test of the five-match series and hasn’t been recalled since. At that time, reports indicated that although Shreyas Iyer mentioned a back issue, he was cleared for selection.

Later, the BCCI had asked all players to play Ranji Trophy during their off time. However, Shreyas Iyer missed the Ranji games for Mumbai after being dropped from the Test squad.

Later, he returned to play for Mumbai in the semifinal and the final but the BCCI had already excluded him from the central contracts by then alongside Ishan Kishan.

Shreyas Iyer Returns for Sri Lanka ODIs

However, now the board is prepared to grant Shreyas Iyer a central contract. According to the Indian Express, the Mumbai star is expected to be recalled for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. His return to international cricket will also secure him a spot in BCCI’s annual contract.
