In a recent development, Virat Kohli has confirmed his availability for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, beginning on August 2.

Kohli, who had been on a family break in London, informed the BCCI on Thursday about his decision to join the Sri Lanka tour. This comes following a request from Gautam Gambhir, the newly appointed head coach of the Indian team.

Initially, Virat Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, was expected to sit out the ODI series to recuperate after a busy schedule that included the 2024 T20 World Cup.

However, Gambhir urged all three senior players to make themselves available, citing the limited number of ODIs scheduled for India before the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma has also confirmed his availability for the Sri Lanka ODIs, responding to Gambhir’s request.

As for Jasprit Bumrah, his availability remains uncertain, and it is likely that he will miss the Sri Lanka tour. The BCCI is set to announce the squad for the Sri Lanka series on Thursday.
