The Seattle Orcas batter Shehan Jayasuriya played an outstanding ramp shot against the Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, who is representing San Francisco Unicorns in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024

Chasing a modest 166 for victory, the Orcas got off to a flying start, reaching 54 without loss at the end of the powerplay. Shehan Jayasuriya was looking in a great touch as he took on the captain of San Francisco Pat Cummins and Haris Rauf.

The Sri Lankan batter picked sixth over, bowled by Pakistan pacer battery Haris Rauf to take on the opposition and put them under pressure. Rauf started with a dot ball, but the second delivery was a fiery one, angling inwards from around the wicket.

Unfazed, Jayasuriya anticipated the short ball and went for a risky ramp shot. He mistimed the connection slightly, getting a leading edge that flew over the keeper’s head towards third-man for a streaky four.

Jayasuriya continued his assault. The next ball was dispatched through the covers for another boundary, and he finished the over with a flourish – a six over the long-on boundary followed by a crunching four.

Rauf’s over went for a staggering 18 runs, with Jayasuriya showcasing his audacity and power hitting. Although he fell soon after for a well-made 54 (37 balls, 1 six & 7 fours), he left his mark on the match and gave the Orcas a fighting chance.

Haris Rauf, meanwhile, ended the day wicketless but expensive, conceding 30 runs in his four overs. As for the match, San Francisco Unicorns won the match by 23 runs.
