India’s experienced fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has revealed that Ishant Sharma and Virat Kohli are his two best friends and the ones who kept calling him for updates when he got injured.

Mohammed Shami has been on the sidelines since the ODI World Cup 2023 due to a right heel injury. Only recently has he started bowling in the nets, gearing up to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team.

Shami, who was the highest wicket-taker for India in the ODI World Cup 2023, missed the IPL 2024 and T20 World Cup 2024 due to his recovery process following surgery.

Here is what Mohammed Shami told Shubhankar Mishra in his podcast:

“Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are my best friends. They constantly kept calling me when I was injured.”

Notably, these comments from Mohammed Shami came just days after Amit Mishra, the experienced spinner of the Indian cricket team, claimed that Virat Kohli has changed a lot after gaining fame and power.
