Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth made huge claims stating that if Rohit Sharma went on to play the ODI World Cup 2027, set to be played in South Africa, then he would faint in disbelief.

Kris Srikkanth said that while he believes Virat Kohli could go on and play the ODI World Cup 2027, given that he is very fit physically, it is not the case with Rohit Sharma, who is much less fit.

Notably, the legendary batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20 internationals after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean to focus on ODI and Test cricket.

This means that both players are looking forward to playing in the ODI World Cup 2027. The recently appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, also said that if both players remain fit, they can play in the World Cup in 2027.

Here’s what Gautam Gambhir said:

“And more importantly, the Champions Trophy is coming up and a big tour of Australia; they will be motivated enough. And then hopefully, if they can keep their fitness, the 2027 World Cup is there.”

Meanwhile, Kris Srikkanth, who was the chief selector during the 2011 World Cup, which India won, and reportedly the one who dropped Rohit Sharma from the team during that time, does not believe that Rohit Sharma should play in the ODI World Cup 2027.

In the above video, Kris Srikkanth is saying that while he believes that Virat Kohli can play in the ODI World Cup 2027, he would faint if someone says that Rohit Sharma can also play in the World Cup 2027.
