In the latest turn of events, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has reportedly unfollowed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Maxwell, who has been a vital part of RCB in the last few years, had a torrid campaign with the bat in IPL 2024, where he managed only 52 runs in 10 innings.

One reason behind Maxwell’s move of unfollowing RCB ahead of the mega auction could be that RCB might have informed him that they are not planning to retain him, aiming to free up their purse.

Notably, RCB acquired Maxwell in IPL 2021 for a whopping INR 14.25 Crore, and while he did pay off the amount by delivering with the bat, his breakthrough year with RCB came in IPL 2023, where he scored 400 runs across 14 innings.

Glenn Maxwell To Get Released Ahead of IPL Mega Auction?

If the retentions are limited to three players, RCB is expected to retain Will Jacks, Faf du Plessis, and Virat Kohli. However, nothing is certain at this moment.

Maxwell unfollowing RCB is not a good sign. If the Australian all-rounder enters the auction, he would be a hot property as many franchises would look to bid for him, considering the potential and experience he brings to the table.
