English wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow has joined the Joburg Super Kings (JSK) for the SA20 2025 season, which kicks off in January 2025.
In a successful trade earlier today, the Joburg Super Kings acquired Tabraiz Shamsi, while Paarl Royals signed all-rounder Dayyaan Galiem.
This will be Jonny Bairstow‘s debut in the SA20. The batter, known for his global T20 experience, has played in various T20 leagues around the world.
Bairstow, who featured for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024, scored 298 runs in 11 games, including a century in a record chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, Bairstow’s form has declined off late. In the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, held in Caribbeans and USA, he could only score 110 runs in eight matches, with a top score of 48.

The Johannesburg Super Kings, who have not reached the play-offs for the last two seasons, have let go of numerous big players and have retained 13 players for the upcoming auction.
Skipper Faf du Plessis was the first retention for the team. The other players retained by them are Moeen Ali, Gerald Coetzee, Aaron Phangiso, Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams, and Imran Tahir, and Maheesh Theekshana.
