Rohit Sharma has returned to lead the Indian cricket team in the ODI series against Sri Lanka following their T20 World Cup 2024 victory on June 29.
In the first ODI, Rohit Sharma displayed his usual demeanour when Washington Sundar appealed for an LBW, but the umpire was unmoved. Initially reluctant to opt for a review, Rohit reprimanded Sundar for not being certain about the appeal.
During the 4th ball of the 29th over, Sundar delivered an almost flawless yorker to Dunith Wellalage, who missed it completely as it struck his pads and showed a slight deflection.
Both the bowler and the wicket-keeper appeared interested, and Sundar began convincing Rohit to take a review but hesitated after reconsidering. Rohit, meanwhile, looked frustrated with the bowler for not making a final call.
“You tell me, mereko kya dekh raha he, sab kuch mai hi karu” (You tell me, why’re you looking at me, should I do everything?),” Rohit could be heard saying in the video going viral on social media.

Pathum Nissanka, Dunith Wellalage Saves Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first, a decision that backfired as the hosts were reduced to 101 for five in 27 overs. Eventually Sri Lanka managed to put 230 runs on the board at the end of 50 overs, thanks to Pathum Nissanka and Dunith Wellalage’s fighting knocks.
Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each, with other bowlers chipping in with one apiece. India now needs to chase down 231 runs to win the first ODI and go up 1-0 in the three-match ODI series.
