The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have signed South African cricketers Tabraiz Shamsi and Anrich Nortje as direct replacements for Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Nuwan Thushara ahead of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season.

What Happened to Nuwan Thusara and Hasaranga?

Both Sri Lankan players were initially named in the 17-member squad and were expected to feature in the 12th edition of the renowned tournament.

However, Nuwan Thushara had to miss the entire India series due to a fractured thumb, while Hasaranga, the all-rounder, was ruled out after the first ODI with a hamstring injury. Hence, the South African internationals were brought in as their replacements.

Tabraiz Shamsi is no stranger to the CPL, having represented the Patriots from 2015 to 2018, during which he appeared in 27 matches and picked up 33 wickets with an economical 7.06 run rate.

On the other hand, Nortje, who is new to the CPL, will be keen to make an impact, leveraging his vast T20 experience from various international leagues.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots’ Squad for CPL 2024:

Sikandar Raza, Kyle Mayers, Veerasammy Permaul, Evin Lewis, Anrich Nortje, Tristan Stubbs, Ashmead Nedd, Andre Fletcher, Rilee Rossouw, Mikyle Louis, Tabraiz Shamsi, Joshua da Silva (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Johann Layne, Dominic Drakes, Odean Smith, Ryan John.
