The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place in Pakistan next February. However, as usual, India is unlikely to travel to the neighbouring nation due to the ongoing political tension between the two countries.

A solution for India’s non-participation in Pakistan has not yet been finalized, but it is speculated that two neutral venues, Sri Lanka and Dubai, are being considered for India’s matches during the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about potential security mishaps, especially given the packed schedule of the Pakistan cricket team leading up to the Champions Trophy 2025.

“Since the Champions Trophy is in Pakistan, and teams like England and West Indies are scheduled to tour after Bangladesh, we must pay attention to security. God forbid, the Champions Trophy won’t be played here if there is any incident in these tours. Our soldiers are getting martyred in Balochistan and Peshawar. Only the government can answer why it has been happening, but it’s wrong,” said Ali on his YouTube channel.

“We must ensure that there is not even a small security breach. The foreign teams should get the same security as our Prime Minister and President. I am sure, Mohsin Naqvi will be aware of these things,” he added.

Notably, Bangladesh and England are set to visit Pakistan for Test series, which will serve as a crucial test for security measures. It’s worth mentioning that Sri Lanka was attacked in Lahore in 2009, leading the ICC to strip them of hosting rights for the 2011 World Cup.
