The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was particularly challenging for Hardik Pandya. In nearly every match he played, Hardik Pandya faced boos and jeers from the crowd.

The Mumbai Indians’ decision to remove their five-time IPL champion Rohit Sharma without any warning and appoint Hardik Pandya as captain just before the season sparked frustration among the fans.

The team was reportedly divided internally, as players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Verma, and several others were unhappy with the change in leadership and unwilling to support Hardik Pandya.

However, in a recent revelation, Indian fast bowling star Jasprit Bumrah stated that while it was a tough period for Hardik Pandya, the team was united in their support for him. However, few things are ‘out of control’ for them.

“You have to take it on your chin. That’s where the inner circle comes in. We, as a team, don’t encourage that, we don’t promote that. We don’t think that’s warranted,” Bumrah told Indian Express.

“We were with him (Hardik), talking to him, if he needed support. Certain things are beyond your control. If it happened, it happened,” the pacer said.

Narrative Changed After T20 World Cup – Jasprit Bumrah

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, who performed exceptionally with both bat and ball in the IPL 2024, had a remarkable campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 and played a crucial role in India winning the trophy.

According to Jasprit Bumrah, the narrative around Hardik Pandya changed for the better after the T20 World Cup.

“The narrative just changed, when we won the World Cup. This is part of the journey. It’s us against the world. We will try to give as much support as we can,” Bumrah said

Pandya accumulated 144 runs at a strike rate of 150 and took 11 wickets. In the World Cup final, his impressive bowling performance of 3/20 put India in a commanding position, dismissing South Africa’s key players, Heinrich Klassen and David Miller.
