In a legal move, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has asked the Punjab and Haryana High Court for a restraining order against co-owner Mohit Burman to prevent him from selling a portion of his stake in the IPL team to the third ‘unknown’ party.

Mohit Burman is the largest shareholder in the franchise, owning 48 percent of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, while Zinta and Ness Wadia each hold 23 percent. The remaining shares are owned by the fourth shareholder, Karan Paul.

According to a Tribune report, the Bollywood actress has submitted a petition to the court under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act of 1996, requesting interim measures and directives due to the disputes between her and respondent Mohit Burman. 

Burman, however, has denied these claims, according to Cricbuzz. The reason for Zinta’s objection remains unclear, but it is understood that the franchise’s internal agreement stipulates that any stake for sale must first be offered to the existing promoters. 

Only if all existing promoters refuse to buy the stake can it be sold to an external party. The case is scheduled for a hearing on August 20 in Punjab and Haryana High Court. The situation will become clearer only after the hearing.
