The Bangladesh Cricket Team suffered a huge blow before the Pakistan Test series, with reports suggesting that opening batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy will miss the tour due to a groin injury.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy is currently in Pakistan, where he participated in a four-day practice match for the Bangladesh A team against Pakistan A. He scored 65 runs from the team’s total of 122 in the first innings but did not bat in the second innings.

The opener is expected to miss the two-match series after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed that Mahmudul Hasan Joy has injured his right groin.

Chowdhury stated, “We have received a report indicating that Mahmudul has sustained an injury to his right groin. He will be rested for three weeks as a result.

The Bangladesh team travelled to Pakistan earlier this week for two ICC World Test Championship matches. The opening match of the series is scheduled to start on August 21, with the second match set for August 30.

Both the matches will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Earlier, the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh was scheduled to take place in Karachi but due to the ongoing construction work, the PCB shifted the match to Rawalpindi.
