Harry Brook has been appointed as the vice-captain of the England Test team as they announced its playing XI for the first Test against Sri Lanka on Monday, August 19.
Harry Brook, who rejoined the squad during the West Indies series, will be serving as Ollie Pope’s deputy in the absence of Ben Stokes, who is sidelined with an injury.
Brook will hold the vice-captain role for the entire Sri Lanka series, beginning with the first Test on August 21 at Old Trafford in Manchester. Meanwhile Zak Crawley is also unavailable for this series.
Dan Lawrence has been called up to fill Crawley’s shoes.

Dan Lawrence, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (captain), Joe Root, Harry Brook (vice-captain), Jamie Smith (wicketkeeper), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Matthew Potts, Mark Wood and Shoaib Bashir.
