Yash Dayal, a pacer for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), lauded star batter Virat Kohli for helping him feel at ease with the team during the 2024 IPL season.
Yash Dayal had a challenging 2023 IPL season with the Gujarat Titans (GT), where he took just two wickets at an average of 82.50 and an economy rate of 11.79 across five matches.
However, the left-arm Uttar Pradesh pacer turned his fortunes around with RCB, finishing the 2024 season with 15 wickets and an average of 30.60 across 14 games.
During an interview with Sportsak, Yash Dayal heaped praise on Kohli and stated that the media’s depiction of the former captain is often misleading and he is always there for youngsters.
“The biggest thing he said to me was that they would back me for the entire season and I will not feel as an outsider in the team. They backed me wholeheartedly in the entire season that was a booster for me. He interacts with youngsters in the same way like others and What people talk on TV about him I didn’t feel that with him,” said Dayal.
The highlight of Dayal’s 2024 IPL season was his performance in RCB’s final league game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a high-stakes match for both sides, he successfully defended 17 runs in the last over.
