The Uttar Pradesh T20 League’s second season (UP T20 League) is set to start on Sunday, August 25, with the final of the tournament set to take place on Saturday, September 14.
All the matches of the tournament will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
A total of six teams, namely Meerut Mavericks, Lucknow Falcons, Noida Super Kings, Gorakhpur Lions, Kanpur Superstars, and Kashi Rudras will participate in the tournament.
The tournament will feature a host of T20 stars, including several IPL veterans who have made significant contributions to the league. Young players will have the chance to compete alongside some of the best in the business.
On that note, let’s take a look at the top five IPL stars who are set to play in the UP T20 League 2024:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the seasoned fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh, is set to return for the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. Having competed in the league’s inaugural season, he is now the most expensive player this year and will be representing the Lucknow Falcons.
Dhruv Jurel:
Dhruv Jurel, the Uttar Pradesh wicket-keeper batter who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, made his Test debut for India earlier this year. He made a strong impression with the bat in the Test series against England. Known for his finishing abilities behind the stumps, he will be representing the Gorakhpur Lions this season.
Sameer Rizvi:
Sameer Rizvi, the right-handed batsman signed by Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2024, got a couple of chances to showcase his batting. Alongside his strong hitting, he is also known for his bowling skills. This season, he will be representing the Kanpur Superstars.
Mohsin Khan:
Mohsin Khan’s career has seen its ups and downs since he debuted in the Indian Premier League for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022. He made a significant impact with his left-arm bowling that season but was sidelined by an injury for IPL 2023. Upon his return in IPL 2024, both his pace and accuracy were off, and he will be aiming to regain his form in this league. He will be representing the Kanpur Superstars.
Mukesh Kumar:
Mukesh Kumar, who has been a cornerstone of fast bowling for the Delhi Capitals and quickly made an impression for India, is one of the more underrated bowlers currently. He is set to aim for top performance this season in the UP T20 League, representing the Kanpur Superstars.
