KL Rahul, a senior Indian cricketer, recently met with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka in Kolkata. He expressed his wish to stay with the team for the IPL 2025 season.

However, the team has not yet given him any promises because they are waiting for the BCCI to announce the rules about which players can be kept.

Rahul led LSG to the playoffs in the first two IPL seasons, but many people think that the team’s success was more because of Gautam Gambhir’s planning than Rahul’s captaincy. His leadership faced criticism during the third season.

An IPL official, who did not want to be named, confirmed that Rahul met with Goenka. The official said that LSG cannot make any decisions about keeping players until they know the BCCI’s rules and the team’s budget for the next season.

Even if LSG decides to keep Rahul, it’s unlikely that he will be their first choice. Keeping him as the top pick could cost the team ₹18 to ₹20 crore, which is a large amount. Teams usually save that much money for players who have a big impact in T20 cricket.

In other news, LSG is expected to announce Zaheer Khan, a former Indian fast bowler, as their new mentor for the next season.
