Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have long been compared, with the debate among cricket fans showing no signs of slowing down. Though both have faced their challenges, the discussion over who holds the edge as the better batter continues to thrive.

However, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria believes that comparing the two players isn’t necessary, as he considers Virat to be the superior one. Speaking to Sports Tak, Kaneria mentioned that Virat Kohli’s records are enough to prove who is the superior one.

“Who is comparing them? I am tired of hearing that people compare them. When you’re talking about comparing, look at the runs Virat has scored. He has scored runs all around the world. He is a massive player,” Kaneria said.

Kaneria also mentioned that Kohli’s mere presence on the field has a significant impact, something he feels Babar Azam currently lacks. He further stated that the comparisons between the two were mostly media-driven.

“Look at his stature, when he walks onto the field, his aura itself is different and he (Babar) does not come close, forget comparing them. All that is created by the channels to sell their product. I have had a lot of questions comparing them, but I have never done it. Look at the stats. When both of them retire, do take a look at the stats,” he mentioned.

India Shouldn’t Travel to Pakistan – Danish Kaneria

Additionally, Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan player now living in England, suggested that India should avoid travelling to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions. Instead, he proposed that the matches be held in Dubai.

“Looking at the situation in Pakistan, I have to say that the Indian team should not go to Pakistan, and Pakistan should think about it, and then the ICC will make its decision, and most likely, it will be a hybrid model, it will played in Dubai. The media gets hype, everyone’s videos get likes because the big manjan is good so it will sell. So I think this is a reality and it will definitely be a hybrid model,” he said.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to receive approval from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops in the future.
