Pakistan’s young pacer Khurram Shahzad justified the faith the team management had in him during the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Khurram Shahzad ended the 165-run stand between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das, securing his five-wicket haul on Day 3. It didn’t take him long to turn it into a maiden six-wicket haul.
Taskin Ahmed became his sixth victim. By the end of the first session on Day 3, Shahzad had already claimed four wickets. Bangladesh began Day 3 with 10 for no loss but quickly fell apart, losing six wickets for just 12 runs.
Shahzad was the first to make an impact, removing Zakir Hasan. Shahzad then struck in his fourth over, dismissing Shadman Islam with a precise delivery that hit the leg stump and also taking out captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in that over.
Later, he was brought back and he cleared the star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Shahzad trapped Shakib in front of the stumps with a fuller delivery that angled into the all-rounder’s pad.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das aided Bangladesh’s recovery on Day 3 after the team was reduced to 26/6. Mehidy made a valuable 78 runs before departing, while Litton Das continues to fight hard to help Bangladesh build a lead.
At the time of writing, Bangladesh’s scorecard reads 217/8.
