The reigning champions, Guyana Amazon Warriors, who narrowly escaped defeat in their opening match of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), made a bold statement on Wednesday, September 4, by posting the second-highest team total in the tournament’s history against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, thanks to a powerful knock from Shimron Hetmyer.

Leading the charge for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Shimron Hetmyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz powered the team to a whopping 266 runs in their 20 overs on a batting-friendly surface in Basseterre, St Kitts.

Guyana Amazon Warriors overtook the Jamaica Tallawahs’ former second-highest CPL total of 255. Yet, it was Shimron Hetmyer who stole the spotlight, crafting a historic 91 off 39 balls, hitting 11 sixes without any fours, in Basseterre on Wednesday night.
