Once considered arch-rivals, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli now seem like best friends in the Indian cricket setup. The two decided to put an end to the controversies by sitting down for an interview.

Gambhir and Kohli have had several heated exchanges on the field, especially during the Indian Premier League (IPL), often splitting their fanbases on social media. 

However, now that they share the dressing room as coach and player in the Indian team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stepped in to quash the rumours with a first-ever interview.

In the clip shared by the BCCI on social media, Kohli and Gambhir are seen playfully teasing each other about their past on-field clashes with opponents. Kohli then asked Gambhir about the mindset he adopts during such altercations, but the Indian head coach’s reply left him completely surprised. 

Virat Kohli: When you are batting and you have a bit of a chat with the opposition, did you ever feel like this might carry on to you going out of the zone and potentially getting out, or it put you in a more motivated state? 

Gautam Gambhir: You have had more altercations than I have. I think you can answer that question, better than I can. 

Virat Kohli (laughing): Main to ye dhund raha hun ki koi meri baat se agree kar jaye. Ye nahi bol raha ki galat hai. Koi to bole haan, yahi hota hai (I am only looking for someone who agrees with what I have to say. Not saying that it is wrong. At least someone should say, yes this is what happens).
