R Ashwin smashed his 6th Test century, once again troubling Bangladesh on the first day of the opening Test in Chennai on Thursday, September 19. His impressive innings came off 108 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Ashwin walked in to bat when India was struggling at 144 for 6, with the top order collapsing and KL Rahul departing for just 12. Teaming up with Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin took charge, adopting an aggressive approach to stabilize the innings.
Ashwin raced to his fifty in just 58 deliveries. He continued his aggressive approach, and along with Jadeja, guided India past the 300-run mark, finally putting them in control on day one. There were a couple of nervy moments when the ball found the edge but slipped past the fielders.
