Hasan Mahmud made history on Friday by becoming the first Bangladesh pacer to claim a five-wicket haul against India on their home soil.
Jasprit Bumrah became Hasan Mahmud’s fifth wicket and his first on Day 2, as the pacer finished with impressive figures of 5/83. On Day 1, he had already removed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant.
On Thursday, Mahmud became the first Bangladesh pacer to take three wickets while conceding fewer than 10 runs in the first 10 overs of a Test in India. The previous record was held by New Zealand’s Chris Martin, who took three wickets for 10 runs in Ahmedabad in 2010.
Bangladesh staged a strong comeback on Day 2 of the 1st Test, bowling India out for under 400. They wrapped up the remaining four Indian wickets in just over an hour.
