The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the first Test of the upcoming three-match series against England. The series will kick off on October 7 in Multan.

Shan Masood Retains Captaincy; Noman Ali Returns

Shan Masood has been retained as the Test captain. Meanwhile, a notable inclusion in the squad is the experienced left-arm spinner, Noman Ali, who returns to the team at 37.
Noman has been brought in as a replacement for the injured fast bowler, Khurram Shahzad. The spinner, who has previously played 15 Tests and taken 47 wickets, adds depth to Pakistan’s spin attack.

Players Withdrawn from Domestic Tournament

To prepare for the Test series, the selected players have been withdrawn from the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup. According to a PCB statement, this decision was made based on head coach Jason Gillespie’s recommendation.

“The squad will assemble in Multan on Monday, 30 September, with the training camp starting on 1 October,” stated the PCB. This break aims to give players some rest before facing England.

Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali Miss Out

Spin-bowling all-rounder Kamran Ghulam and fast bowler Mohammad Ali, who were part of the squad during the Bangladesh Tests, have not been included this time. The PCB emphasized that both players remain in their plans but were left out due to the selection policy’s focus on consistency. They have been encouraged to stay match-ready by participating in domestic tournaments like the Champions One-Day Cup and the President’s Cup.

Pakistan squad for first Test against England:

Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicket-keeper), Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicket-keeper), and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
