On Sunday, India witnessed the international debuts of two promising young cricketers – Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy – in the first T20I against Bangladesh at the new Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Both players received their maiden India caps in a special ceremony before the match.

The 22-year-old Mayank Yadav was handed his first India cap by former Indian spinner Murali Karthik, while Nitish Kumar Reddy, 21, received his cap from Parthiv Patel. Ahead of the toss, the duo was seen preparing for their big moment. Mayank, who is known for his raw pace, was spotted alongside India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, adjusting his run-up with the help of a measuring tape.

Mayank’s IPL Journey and Quick Rise

Mayank Yadav burst onto the scene during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Although he only played four matches for the Lucknow Super Giants, his performances were enough to turn heads in the cricketing world. He quickly became known for his blistering pace and took seven wickets in those games, including notable dismissals of Jonny Bairstow and Glenn Maxwell.

His journey in the IPL was not without its challenges, however. Despite a strong start, which saw him win Player of the Match awards in his first two games, a side strain cut his season short. He spent time recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and even made a brief appearance in the Buchi Babu Tournament as part of his rehabilitation.

Nitish Reddy: Emerging Player of IPL 2024

Nitish Kumar Reddy also made a significant mark in the 2024 IPL season. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the seam-bowling all-rounder was instrumental in taking his team to the final. His contributions with both bat and ball were key, as he scored 303 runs and picked up three wickets in 13 appearances. His all-round ability earned him the Emerging Player of the Season award.
