Kolkata Knight Riders‘ (KKR) rising star, Harshit Rana, remains uncapped after missing the chance to make his international debut in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. While fans expected the young pacer to feature in the final game of the series, a viral fever sidelined him.
Though Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy made their debuts in the opening T20I, adding to India’s talent pool, Rana was anticipated to debut in the third and final match. However, illness ruled him out at the last moment, forcing India to reshuffle their plans. Wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi came in as a replacement, while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was rested.
BCCI Confirms Harshit Rana’s Absence
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an official update on their social media handle, saying, “Mr. Harshit Rana was unavailable for selection for the third T20I due to a viral infection and did not travel with the team to the stadium.”
Rana’s absence was a setback for the fast bowler, who earned his maiden call-up earlier this year following a stellar IPL 2024 season. Representing KKR, the right-arm quick scalped 19 wickets in 13 games, with an impressive bowling average of 20.15. His performances helped KKR secure a title win, establishing Rana as a promising talent.
Ravi Bishnoi, who stepped in for Rana, will now feature in the third T20I. Bishnoi, a dependable spinner for India, last played in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He had missed the first two matches against Bangladesh as Varun Chakravarthy was preferred, but now Bishnoi will be looking to make the most of this opportunity.
India’s Playing XI for Third T20I:
Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Nitish Reddy, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav
