Sanju Samson’s exceptional innings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad lit up the third T20I against Bangladesh on October 12. The wicketkeeper-batter from Kerala smashed 111 off just 47 balls, marking his first T20I century and becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper to achieve this milestone. His knock powered India to a mammoth total of 297/6, the second-highest team score in T20I history.
Sanju Samson’s Century Breaks Records
Sanju Samson’s knock included 11 fours and 8 towering sixes, with the 29-year-old reaching his hundred in just 40 deliveries—making it the second-fastest T20I century by an Indian. This innings also surpassed Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 89 against Sri Lanka in 2022, which was the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper in T20Is until now.
The Delhi batter’s previous best score of 77 came against Ireland, though that time he was not keeping wickets. However, his latest knock not only rewrote records but also made him the 11th Indian to register a T20I century. He joins the ranks of legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suresh Raina by scoring centuries in both ODIs and T20Is.
