With IPL 2025 fast approaching, franchises are gearing up to finalize their player retentions. All teams have until October 31 to submit their retention lists to the BCCI. Delhi Capitals (DC) appear to have an easier task this year, with a few automatic selections already standing out among their squad.

Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav Lead the Retention List

According to a PTI report, Delhi Capitals are likely to retain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as their top picks. Rishabh is expected to be retained for ₹18 crore, continuing his association with the franchise that began with his IPL debut in 2016. 

Despite a recent cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), hinting at the possibility of leaving Delhi Capitals, it seems to be nothing more than a social media strategy for engagement.

Axar Patel is set to earn ₹14 crore as DC’s second-choice retention, while Kuldeep Yadav will likely stay on for ₹11 crore. These three Indian players have been key contributors to DC’s success in recent years.

RTM Card Plans for Overseas Stars

There’s also report that Delhi Capitals may exercise their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain two overseas players—Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs. 

Fraser-McGurk, in particular, made a big impact in IPL 2024, taking over David Warner’s spot in the playing XI. He showcased explosive batting, scoring 330 runs in nine matches at an astonishing strike rate of 234.04, making him a valuable asset for the upcoming season.
