Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin showered praise on Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB), acknowledging the unwavering support of their fans. According to Ashwin, RCB has one of the most loyal fanbases in the IPL, with a deep admiration for star batter Virat Kohli.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin highlighted the loyalty RCB fans display, despite the team’s ups and downs. He added that the Bengaluru-based franchise enjoys the backing of dedicated supporters, even as they face regular trolling on social media.
RCB Fans Stand by Kohli and the Franchise
Ashwin pointed out how fans of RCB, and especially followers of Kohli, continue to rally behind the team. Reflecting on the trolling RCB supporters often encounter, Ashwin remarked:
“RCB fans love Virat Kohli. So many get depressed seeing the trolling going on social media, but RCB is a god gifted franchise with the most loyal fanbase. Their fans always stood by them.”
The Indian all-rounder also referred to RCB as one of the most consistent teams in the IPL over the last decade, emphasizing the connection between Kohli and the franchise’s supporters.
Kohli’s Legacy and Ashwin’s Recent Performances
Ashwin further addressed the comparisons often made between Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s Babar Azam, dismissing them as unnecessary.
“Kohli’s credentials are just something else,” said Ashwin, adding that the two players should not even be compared.
The 38-year-old off-spinner recently arrived at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the home ground of RCB, for India’s opening Test match against New Zealand.
Ashwin is also coming off a stellar series against Bangladesh, where he scored a brilliant 113 and bagged six wickets, helping India clinch the series 2-0.
With the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia on the horizon, Ashwin will aim to carry his form forward, contributing with both bat and ball.
