As the Indian Premier League (IPL) gear up for its 2025 mega auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has made a strong statement by finalizing their list of retained players.

The franchise, which finished as runners-up last season after a defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders, is ready to invest heavily in its squad, with reports indicating a staggering INR 23 crore commitment to one important player.

Top Retentions Include Heinrich Klaasen and Pat Cummins

According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, SRH plans to retain Heinrich Klaasen as their first player, offering him INR 23 crore despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) setting the retention price at INR 18 crore.

Alongside Klaasen, the franchise will retain Pat Cummins for INR 18 crore and Abhishek Sharma for INR 14 crore. Both players played important roles in SRH’s performance during the 2024 season.

Cummins, who captains the team, took 18 wickets, while Abhishek Sharma dazzled with his batting, scoring 484 runs at a staggering strike rate of 204.21, frequently providing explosive starts for his team.

The report also suggests that SRH will soon confirm the retention of Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy before the BCCI’s deadline on October 31.

Reddy emerged as a revelation during the last season, earning the Emerging Player of the Season award. He impressed fans with 303 runs in 11 matches, achieving a strike rate of 142.92, and showcased his all-round abilities by taking three wickets.

Meanwhile, Travis Head excelled as an opener, amassing 567 runs at a strike rate of 191.55, proving to be a consistent performer throughout the campaign. With these five players being key figures in SRH’s memorable journey in IPL 2024, the team is looking to maintain its competitive edge.
