Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal recently shared details about his conversation with KL Rahul, India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, after acquiring him during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
KL Rahul, who previously captained the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) since their debut in 2022, had a strong run with the franchise, leading them to playoff qualifications in two seasons. However, LSG released Rahul after their disappointing IPL 2024 campaign. Following his release, there were widespread speculations about his future in the league.
During the IPL 2025 auction, Rahul was part of the Marquee Players’ Set 2, attracting bids from multiple franchises, including Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Delhi Capitals (DC). Eventually, DC secured his services for ₹14 crore.
Parth Jindal’s Conversation with KL Rahul
After the auction, Parth Jindal revealed his conversation with KL Rahul, who expressed his excitement about joining the Delhi Capitals. Speaking about their chat, Jindal said (via ESPNCricinfo):
“He’s very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi. He knows me for a long time. He’s a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I own Bengaluru FC (in the Indian Super League), so he’s watched a few games with me. I know his wife Athiya (Shetty) really well. She’s been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai.
“So he (Rahul) was like, ‘I just want to play cricket. I just want to get the love and support from the franchise. I just want to get the respect and I know Parth from you, I will get that and just can’t be more excited to play for a friend and let’s make Delhi win. I have never won (IPL). Delhi has never won. Let’s do it together.’”
Fifth IPL Franchise for KL Rahul
KL Rahul’s move to Delhi Capitals marks his fifth IPL franchise. Before joining DC, Rahul represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
