Siddharth Kaul, a former Indian fast bowler, has announced his retirement from professional cricket. Known for his consistency and skill, Kaul was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2008, led by Virat Kohli.
Kaul, now 34, shared an emotional message on social media, recalling his journey that began on the fields of Punjab.
“When I was a child playing cricket in the fields in Punjab, I had one dream. A dream to represent my country,” he wrote.
Kaul earned his T20I cap (No. 75) and ODI cap (No. 221) in 2018 and expressed immense gratitude for living his dream.
Siddharth Kaul had a strong domestic record with 297 wickets in 88 first-class matches, including 17 five-wicket hauls. In List A cricket, he picked 199 wickets in 111 matches, while in T20s, he claimed 182 wickets in 145 games. His performance in the 2008 U19 World Cup was outstanding, as he became India’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament, helping the team win the title in Malaysia.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kaul represented Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He played 55 matches and took 58 wickets, excelling with his slower balls and yorkers, especially during his time with Hyderabad from 2017 to 2021.
